Version control

The "Version history" window provides you with an overview of a file’s change history. Open the "Files uploaded to F2" window, select the relevant file, and then click on Version history.

The "Version history" window gives you an overview of the selected file’s change history. The window’s columns show information about which users have modified the file and the type of action, among other things. In the window, you can use menu items to roll back the file to a previous version and download the file or its associated upload report for a given version.

The window contains three menu items. They are described in the following table.

Menu item Description

"Set as active version"

Makes a previous version of a file the active file version. The "Set as active version" dialogue opens, where you can add a comment to explain your choice.

You can see the version number of the active file version under the window’s ribbon.

"Download file"

Using the Download file menu item, you can download a previous version of a file. This may be relevant, for example, if a previous file version needs to serve as the basis for a new file.

"Open latest upload report"

Opens the upload report for the file version you have selected in the history.

With certain file actions, you receive a report in the form of a record in your inbox. The record contains information about whether your action has been completed or encountered errors. An upload report is generated for the following file actions:

  • Upload of a file.

  • Deactivation or activation of a file.

  • Rollback of a file to a previous version.

Note that the "Version history" window records completed file actions. You can only open upload reports for completed actions via the menu item.

Columns in the "Version history" window

The window contains five columns, displaying information about certain actions on a file. The columns show information about the following file actions:

  • Upload of a file.

  • Deactivation or activation of a file.

  • Rollback of a file to a previous version.

The individual columns are described in the following table.

Column Description

"User"

Shows the name of the user who performed an action on the file.

"Action"

Shows which action has been taken on the file.

"Comment"

Shows the comment that the user may have entered during their action on the file.

"Upload date"

Shows when the action on the file took place.

"Version"

Shows which version number the file had during the file action.
