Self-service content
Add the content of the self-service on the ”Self-service” tab in the design template. Here you define the content that is displayed on the self-service. The self-service is structured as pages containing panels and fields.
Three content types
In the design template you can choose between three types of content for the self-service:
-
Page, which is used to define the subpages of the self-service (1).
-
Panel, which is used to define a heading for a field or a collection of fields on a subpage (2).
-
Field, which is used to define input fields on a subpage where the citizen can type information or choose between predefined values (3).
The three content types are found in the drop-down menu for cells in the "Type (page/panel/field)" column. First, select the type ”Page”. In the subsequent cells in the column, define the number of panels and fields on the page.
A page must contain at least one field. |
When you have selected either ”Page”, ”Panel”, or ”Field” in the design template, you must fill in additional cells relevant to the content type. These are described below. The design template guides you on which cells to fill in depending on the content type you have selected by turning grey cells white, meaning you can add content to them.
When you have selected the desired panels and fields for a page, you can create a new page.
For the benefit of self-service users, it is recommended to keep subpages short. If there are too many panels and fields on a page, you should consider creating a new page. |
Fill in the cell for the ”Page” content type
You only fill in one cell per ”Page”. The image in the table shows how the filled-in cell looks in the self-service.
Cell | Description |
---|---|
”Title” |
Specify the page title. The page titles are used in the overview in the left side of the self-service. Figure 3. Title of the ”Page” content type on the self-service
|
Fill in cells for the ”Panel” content type
For the ”Panel” type, you fill in two cells. The images in the table show how the filled-in cells look in the self-service.
Cell | Description |
---|---|
”Title” |
Specify the panel title. The titles of panels are used in the overview in the left side of the self-service. Figure 4. Title of the ”Panel” content type on the self-service
|
”Guidance text (always visible)” |
Specify a guidance text for the panel explaining what the underlying fields are about. Adding guidance text for a panel is optional. Figure 5. Guidance text for the ”Panel” content type on the self-service
|
Fill in cells for the ”Field” content type
For the ”Field” content type, you can fill in up to eight cells. The images in the table show how the filled-in cells look in the self-service.
Cell | Description | ||
---|---|---|---|
”Title” |
Specify the field title. The title should describe what the citizen should input in the field. Figure 6. Title of the ”Field” content type on the self-service
|
||
”Guidance text (always visible)” |
Specify a guidance text for the field explaining what the citizen should input in the field. Adding guidance text for a field is optional. Figure 7. Guidance text for the ”Field” on the self-service
|
||
”Help text (visible by click on ’?’)” |
Provide an explanatory text for the field. Clicking on the question mark icon above the field will display the text. Adding help text for a field is optional. Figure 8. Help text for the ”Field” content type on the self-service
|
||
”Field ID (unique)” |
Specify a unique field ID for the field. It is mandatory to fill in a field ID for each field. The ID does not appear on the self-service or in the user interface in F2, but is used in the XML files generated in connection with the case guide and self-service. The ID can be used as merge fields to the titles of the record and case that are automatically created when a self-service inquiry is received in F2. If you want an automatic email to be sent as a receipt to a citizen who submits an inquiry via the self-service, it is necessary to include two fields that use the field IDs ”name” and ”email”, respectively. The fields are inserted as recipients of the email.
|
||
”Field type” |
Select a field type for the field from the drop-down menu. The field type determines what type of input the citizen is able to provide in the field, such as a short text or predefined options in a drop-down menu. |
||
”Options (separated by ';')” |
For the field types ”Set of checkboxes”, ”Radio buttons”, and ”Drop-down”, specify the options that the citizen can choose from. The options must be separated by a semicolon. |
||
”Optional (input x)” |
Specify if the field should be optional for the citizen to fill in. Select ”x” in the drop-down menu if the field should be optional. If the field is not optional, the citizen cannot proceed to the next page on the self-service until the field is filled in. |
||
”Visiblity dependent on [Field ID]” |
Specify if the field should only be displayed if the citizen has checked a previous checkbox. Add the field ID of the checkbox that determines this field’s visibility. Visibility for a field can only be based on a field of the "Checkbox" field type. Example from the design template: Figure 9. Visibility of a field in the design template
On the self-service, the ”Attach construction license” field will only be displayed if the citizen has checked the ”Construction license” box. Figure 10. Visibility of a field in the self-service
|
||
”Excel input” |
Specify the name of the cell in the calculation sheet where a citizen’s input will be placed. Read more about the calculation sheet and its cells. |
Field types
For each element of the "Field" content type, you must choose a field type that determines the kind of input the citizen can provide. The images in the table show how the individual field types appear in the self-service.
Field type | Description |
---|---|
”Short text” |
Free-text field where the citizen can write a short text (e.g. name, email etc.). Figure 11. ”Short text” field type
|
”Long text” |
Free-text field where the citizen can write long texts (e.g. explanations, motivations etc.). Figure 12. ”Long text” field type
|
”Checkbox” |
A checkbox where the citizen can tick a box. Figure 13. ”Checkbox” field type
|
”Set of checkboxes” |
Several checkboxes where the citizen can select one or more answer options. You specify the answer options in the ”Options” column in the design template. Figure 14. ”Set of checkboxes” field type
|
”Radio buttons” |
Radio buttons where the citizen can only select one answer option. You specify the answer options in the ”Options” column in the design template. Figure 15. ”Radio buttons” field type
|
”Drop-down” |
Drop-down menu where the citizen can select only one answer option. You specify the answer options in the ”Options” column in the design template. Figure 16. ”Drop-down” field type
|
”Integer” |
Field where the citizen can enter an integer (whole number). The self-service validates the citizen’s input so only answers with integers can be submitted. Figure 17. ”Integer” field type
|
”Decimal” |
Field where the citizen can enter an integer or decimal. The self-service validates the citizen’s input, so only answers with integers and decimals can be submitted. Figure 18. ”Decimal” field type
|
”Attachment” |
Field where the citizen can upload an attachment to their inquiry. Figure 19. ”Attachment” field type
|
”Date” |
Field where the citizen can specify a date. If the citizen clicks on the calendar icon, a calendar opens. Figure 20. ”Date” field type
